Pathways Project

This service helps disadvantaged adults prepare for and find work through helping with motivation, offering specialist advice and providing a range of training. Funded through Tri-borough Better Placed Partnership and in conjunction with Job Centre Plus, our team help residents living in Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark. Pathways to Employment aims to transform local delivery and better meet the needs of local residents by ensuring that residents with the most complex needs get the right intervention at the right time. St Giles Trust is the lead partner in this multi-partnership project. The friendly caseworkers can help with practical issues like CVs, looking for work experience and volunteering, gaining skills and moving into employment. The service plugs a gap often unmet by statutory agencies who can struggle to address complex needs of people with multiple issues holding them back from getting employment.

Since its launch in 2016, the Pathways to Employment project have provided 6 hours of one-to-one support to 1,224 participants. The project has so far supported 497 people into employment; 282 of which have sustained for a period of 6 months or more. They have also supported 387 participants to address at least two barriers to employment (including housing; finance, benefit and debt; health and wellbeing; disclosure; drug and alcohol; childcare; and training).
